Dragon boat racing is the fastest growing water activity in Britain today – as well as the most fun! Up to 10 people paddle each 30’ boat with a drummer at the front beating time and our helm at the tail steering a straight course. No previous experience is required, just plenty of team spirit!
The 15th Cambridge Dragon Boat Festival takes place on Saturday 7th September 2019 on the River Cam at Fen Ditton and more than 40 teams are expected to compete over the 200m race course, watched by several hundred spectators. As well as the exciting races, a range of bankside entertainment, food stalls and fun activities guarantee a fabulous day out for all the family!
Standard entry includes:
- Dragon boats, qualified helms and all racing equipment
- At least 3 races per crew
- Music and entertainment
- Souvenir programme
- Trophies for the top three crews, the best-placed mixed crew (minimum 5 ladies), the crew raising the most money for ACT and the ‘best dressed’ crew
- Medals for the top three crews
- Special prize of a group experience at Cambridge Escape Rooms for the crew raising the most money for ACT
About Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust
Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT) is the only charity dedicated to making a difference for patients at Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie hospitals. Whether it’s treatment for an emergency, acute condition, pregnancy or long term illness, we believe that every patient deserves the highest quality of care available. With the help of many generous supporters, we have provided funds so that your local hospitals can offer the very best care day after day, year after year.
Our aim is to continue to support the hospitals by raising funds for cutting edge technology, additional specialist services, vital research and extra comforts for patients that make all the difference over and above what would be possible through NHS funding alone.
