Charity Dragon Boat Racing Events in Peterborough – Peterborough Rowing Lake

Venue and Facilities

Peterborough Rowing Lake is regularly used by Gable Events for largescale charity dragon boat events, the highlight being our annual Peterborough Dragon Boat Festival which has been running for more than 20 years! With fantastic facilities including the main 1,000m stretch of water fitted with individual racing lanes and excellent viewing opportunities, Peterborough Rowing Lake easily caters for large groups of several hundred plus.

The large land area surrounding Peterborough Rowing Lake, managed by Nene Park Trust, lends itself to additional activities and external caterers can be brought in. There is also a licenced bar, club room for small meetings, changing facilities and parking on site. The Dragonfly Hotel has 70 bedrooms adjacent to the lake, The Holiday Inn Peterborough West is a short distance away and there are plenty of excellent hotels in the nearby city centre making it easy to combine a conference with a dragon boat event in Peterborough.

Events

Peterborough Rowing Lake is one of the few purpose-built rowing lakes in the country and is an attractive central venue for corporate and charity dragon boat racing events. It is host to our annual Peterborough Dragon Boat Festival which attracts more than 40 companies, over 7,000 spectators and raises more than £20,000 for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice each year. It is also a popular venue for private dragon boat events for big local companies like BGL and Thomas Cook that use the opportunity for staff team building and to raise money for their preferred charities. For both these events staff enter up to 30 teams representing their offices from across the country. As well as providing the dragon boat racing, we take pleasure in organising all aspects of the day including booking the venue, a large marquee, tables and chairs, team gazebos, security, car park marshals, skip, portaloos and additional entertainment.
