Dorney Lake is a modern and outstanding conference venue in a spectacular, 400-acre parkland setting near Windsor. It is the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games venue for rowing and flat-water canoeing and the site offers superb facilities and ample space for land and water-based activities. This new partnership was formed in 2007 as Dorney Lake were keen to work with a company with an established reputation for delivering high quality corporate events with enthusiasm and flair. That Gable Events are also the largest dragon boat event operator in the country was a significant bonus!
Dragon boat racing and other activities at Dorney Lake
The modern meeting rooms, unlimited water space and excellent changing facilities at Dorney Lake make it the ideal venue for a standalone dragon boat event or a morning conference followed by lunch and an afternoon of dragon boat racing. The dragon boat racing can be combined with other land or water activities such as gigs, bell boats, canoes and raft building to make a multi-activity event. Numbers:
Both small and large numbers can be accommodated. Dragon boat events run by Gable Events at Dorney Lake have varied from a 15 person two-hour team build with a BBQ to a 400 person conference with lunch and dragon boat racing using eight 40’ dragon boats to a charity dragon boat event and side attractions for 1,000 people
Package:
Gable Events will liaise with Dorney Lake and the client to ensure that every aspect of the event is taken care of. For dragon boat racing, we will provide the dragon boats, ancillary equipment, professional safety cover, buoyancy vests, BDA qualified race officials and helms, BDA permit, medals and trophy for the winning crew(s), PA system and race commentary, race schedule and computerized results, event control unit, authentic Chinese venue decoration, £5m public liability insurance and professional event management. Optional extras include Chinese lion dance, catering & themed entertainment, photographer/video crew, client name/logo on boats, supporting activities and event infrastructure eg marquees, furniture, toilets etc |
