Corporate Dragon Boat Racing at Rutland Water, Leicestershire

Venue and Facilities

Rutland Water is Anglian Water’s drinking water reservoir near Oakham in Leicestershire. With its attractive scenery and wildlife, it’s not only a favourite destination for walkers, cyclists, water sports enthusiasts and families but also for companies looking to host corporate team building events. Being close to our base in Peterborough, we have run events at Rutland Water on many occasions and used the water sports facility as the base for our annual staff dragon boat training weekend. With spectacular views across to Hambleton peninsula and plenty of land space for additional activities, catering and team gazebos, Rutland Water provides a flexible venue for corporate and charity dragon boat events in the Midlands.

Getting There

Situated between Leicester and Peterborough and close to the A47, Rutland Water is easily accessible to corporate clients. It’s central position in the Midlands and the country makes it a desirable venue for dragon boat team building events for companies that have offices nationwide.

Events

Gable Events has delivered numerous corporate dragon boat events at Rutland Water for various clients including Serco and Totemic with one of the most recent being for The Parts People. The inter departmental challenge involved 18 teams of staff representing Parts People offices from across the Midlands (Retford, Newark, Nottingham, Leicester and Corby), all coming together for a day of fun dragon boat competition supported by families and friends. The event also achieved CSR aims with participants asked to raise sponsorship towards a £90,000 target set by the company for its nominated charity ‘When you wish upon a star.’

To compliment the dragon boat racing, the client booked a marquee, fun inflatables for all ages and a bbq beside the Harbour café and on the peninsula at Rutland Water. The event proved to be such a resounding success that The Parts People booked Gable Events to provide dragon boat racing at Rutland Water for three years in a row!
