About the East Anglian Dragon Boat Festival

Dragon Boat Racing and the East Anglian Festival

The East Anglian Dragon Boat Festival is one of the largest charity dragon boat events in the country and the largest corporate team event in East Anglia. Each year it attracts up to 52 teams, over 5,000 spectators and has to date raised more than £100,000 for charity.

Gable Events has joined with East Coast Hospice to bring you the ninth East Anglian Dragon Boat Festival. Taking place on Sunday 31st May 2015 at Oulton Broad, Lowestoft, the Dragon Boat Festival is open to everyone and over 40 teams are expected to battle it out over the 200m race course, watched by several thousand spectators.

With plentiful on-site parking, great facilities and ample land space for viewing and side activities, Oulton Broad and Nicholas Everett Park offer a superb venue for the Festival. As well as the colourful and exciting races, a wide range of continuous bankside entertainment including funfair, inflatable games, children’s activities, food stalls and bar guarantee a fabulous day for all the family!

Standard entry to the East Anglian Dragon Boat Festival includes:

  • Dragon boats, qualified helms and all racing equipment.
  • At least 3 races per crew.
  • Family entertainment.
  • Souvenir programme.
  • Trophies for the top three crews, the best-placed mixed crew (minimum 5 ladies), the crew raising the most money for East Coast Hospice and the ‘best dressed’ crew.
  • Medals for the top three crews.

About East Coast Hospice - The People’s Charity

Imagine for a moment that you have a loved one with an incurable illness. Coping with this most difficult of situations may seem impossible for patients, their family and friends. Yet in the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area we have absolutely no inpatient hospice care available.

Recognising this gaping hole in local care, the independent Charity, East Coast Hospice, was formed by a group of people determined to offer patients and families the choice of the specialist support they need in a welcoming purpose built facility.

East Coast Hospice has purchased a five acre site in a convenient and quiet rural setting near Beacon Park in Gorleston and planning permission has been granted for a ten bed facility with complementary therapy rooms and a peaceful garden. Margaret Chadd House will support patients and their families to live as well as they can for as long as they can and when the time comes, to support a dignified and peaceful journey at the end of life.

The mammoth task of raising funds and building the hospice cannot be managed without your support!

Please help us ‘Raise the Roof’ of East Coast Hospice in any way you can!
