Dragon boat racing is an ancient Chinese tradition and the fastest growing water activity in Britain today – as well as the most fun! Up to 10 people paddle each 30’ boat with a drummer at the front beating time and a helm at the tail steering a straight course. No previous experience is required, just plenty of team spirit!
Gable Events is very proud to launch the first Corporate Dragon Boat Challenge to be held at the London 2012 Olympic rowing and canoeing venue, Dorney Lake in Windsor.
Starting early afternoon on Wednesday 3rd July 2013, up to 40 teams are expected to battle it out over the 200m race course on the Olympic lake, aiming to become top crew on the podium and watched by several hundred spectators.
Entering a team into the Challenge offers a unique opportunity to emulate your Olympic heroes and race at this superb venue. It’s also a great chance to try something completely different, motivate staff, build team work, network with other companies, entertain clients, increase profile and fund raise for your chosen charity if you so wish.
Dorney Lake is the perfect location for dragon boat racing and with high class hospitality and bankside entertainment, a fabulous event is guaranteed!
Standard entry to the Dorney Lake Dragon Boat Challenge includes:
- High class Olympic venue with superb facilities

The Challenge venue – Dorney Lake
Dorney Lake is a modern, world-class rowing and flat-water canoeing centre set in a spectacular 450-acrew parkland near Windsor. The venue hosted the rowing and sprint canoeing events during the Olympic and Paralympic Games of London 2012 and was voted top Olympic venue by an exit poll of spectators. It was also one of the most successful venues for Team GB with 12 medals won including 6 golds!
Owned by Eton College, Dorney Lake is a fantastic venue for corporate events offering gourmet catering, extensive bar, superb changing facilities, ample parking and full disabled access. The lake view room and balcony can accommodate up to 250 people, providing the perfect setting for meetings and bbqs. The venue is also ideally placed within easy reach of London, Heathrow Airport, the M4 corridor and the M3, M25 and M40 motorways.
