Dragon Boat Racing and the Challenge
Dragon boat racing is an ancient Chinese tradition and the fastest growing water activity in Britain today - as well as the most fun! Up to 10 people paddle each 30’ boat with a drummer at the front beating time and a helm at the tail steering a straight course. No previous experience is required, just plenty of team spirit!
The 15th London Construction Industry Dragon Boat Challenge takes place at West Reservoir, London, N4 2HA on Thursday 27th June 2013
Starting early afternoon, up to 40 crews are expected to battle it out over the 200m race course, aiming to become top crew in the industry and watched by several hundred spectators.
Entering a team into the Challenge offers the perfect opportunity to try something completely different, motivate staff and build morale, entertain clients and suppliers, increase profile and raise much needed funds for CRASH. Hundreds of construction industry companies have already discovered the sport’s motivational and team building benefits and raised over £240,000 for CRASH – so why not be part of it!
The chosen venue offers a superb location for racing and a fabulous event is guaranteed with bankside entertainment, hospitality and fun activities.
Standard entry includes:
- High class venue and facilities
- Qualified helms, dragon boats and racing equipment
- At least 3 races per crew
- Gourmet barbecue
- Side entertainments
- Colour souvenir programme
- Prizes for the top three crews, the best mixed crew (minimum five ladies), the highest placed platinum or premier crew and the crew raising the most money for CRASH
- £200 donation to CRASH
The Challenge charity CRASH
CRASH is the construction and property industry's charity for homeless people. CRASH offers practical help that focuses on improving the buildings used by homeless men and women. We do this in three ways:
1 Providing on-site professional expertise
2 Supplying free building materials
3 Awarding cash grants
Every penny CRASH receives from the Dragon Boat Challenge goes directly to homelessness projects that help men and women damaged by the experience of being homeless. Thanks to your generosity CRASH can help improve the buildings these people desperately need to address their problems, gain confidence and integrate back into society.
By participating in the Dragon Boat Challenge, you are helping to make a huge difference to the lives of homeless men and women throughout the UK.
